North Hunterdon Regional High School opened in September 1951 with 517 students in a 27-room facility constructed on a 45-acre (18 ha) site. History Īll 11 of the original constituent districts voted to approve a February 1950 referendum for construction of a building that would cost $700,000 (equivalent to $8.5 million in 2022). In the 1968–69 school year, an actual lion cub was used as a mascot. The school's team nickname is the Lions and its mascot's name is Reggie, in recognition of the early days, when the school was known as Regional. There were 21 students (1.5% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 8 (0.6% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.
